Mercadona acquires plots in Parc Sagunt for €17.6M

These new plots join the 358.000m2 of the plot 72 that the company acquired for €24.14million in that same business park, according to Spanish Real Estate. So, it now controls over 570.000m2 in this complex. The total investment of Mercadona in this region reaches €41M, states the same source.

The sale was approved last Friday by the Parc Sagunt’ board of directors, celebrated in Madrid, as communicated by the Ministry of Economy. This transaction “confirms the Parc Sagunt’ consolidation as the logistics center of reference to the Valencia Region and all throughout the Mediterranean arch, stresses Consell.

According to Mercadona, these plots are intended to “future needs which may arise from ancillary services in the Main Warehouse, to be built in the plot with over 350,000m2 acquired last December”. Oriol Montanyà, general director of Logistics in Mercadona, has pointed out that these plots "will complement with utility warehouses, groupage and packing the future needs which may arise in the Main Warehouse the company plans to build”.

The bet of Mercadona on the business park Sagunt was the starting point to make active this logistics center, which has been paralyzed and close to bankruptcy. In fact, according to Consell, quoted by Spanish Real Estate, since the sale of this first plot to Mercadona, several companies have shown interest in settle in Parc Sagunt.
