Zazume, the Spanish proptech company that digitises the entire lifecycle of medium- and long-term residential rentals, has reached a strategic agreement to acquire 100% of Landa Propiedades’ residential rental portfolio in Zaragoza. Through this partnership, all new listings will be managed via Zazume, which utilises its own proprietary technology and AI.
According to company sources, the agreement will allow Landa to receive a share of up to 70% of the revenue generated, thereby improving the profitability of its portfolio, “thanks to the operational efficiency of its technology and the proptech’s wide range of services”. Furthermore, the agreement establishes exclusivity within its regional area of operation for all its high-value-added services.
Through this partnership, which marks its first acquisition of a property portfolio, the company will add more than 150 additional properties. The partnership is part of Zazume’s strategy for inorganic growth; the company already has more than 500 estate agents and plans to reach 10,000 managed properties within the next 18 months. The proptech company has already secured over €40 million in rental income for its landlords.
“This agreement reflects the trust that estate agents place in our management model. We enable them to hand over their rental portfolio to digital rental professionals using technology that is unique in the market, allowing them to focus on their buying and selling business”, said Jeroen Merchiers, CEO and co-founder of Zazume. “This is the first of between four and five agreements we plan to finalise this year in various provincial capitals, with the aim of adding 2,000 properties through acquisitions”, he added.
This alliance “allows us to expand and improve the value proposition for our clients without needing to increase our operational structure, whilst gaining access to Zazume’s technological and financial tools, which until now have been reserved for large property owners”, noted José Ángel Goyeneche, CEO of Landa Properties, a Zaragoza-based company that entered the property sector in 2004.
40% of the assets managed by Zazume come from property investment companies, and the company has more than 3,000 small and medium-sized property owners in Spain registered on its platform. Through this partnership, it is launching a strategy to drive its growth in a further five provincial capitals this year, backed by investors such as Banco Sabadell and the British fund Nordstar.
