Nido Living and Livensa Living have completed their integration under the Livensa Group name. The European student accommodation platform, backed by CPP Investments, aims to reach 25,000 beds by 2031, up from its current 12,415 in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
The merger completes a year-long process of integrating operations, teams and portfolios, which also included a move to new headquarters in Madrid. Nido’s assets will now operate under the Livensa Living brand, for student residences, and Livensa Studios, for flexible accommodation with shorter stays and more adaptable contracts. The Nido brand will be phased out.
The group, which works as an investor, developer and operator, plans to keep growing in its three current markets and expand into Germany and other European countries. Over the past year, it has made three acquisitions in Italy totalling more than 1,300 beds. The integration brings its operating and development capabilities together under a single structure.
Carlo Matta, CEO of Livensa Group, said the merger will accelerate the platform’s growth in Europe, where he believes student residences are playing an increasingly important role as social infrastructure. “Every bed we bring to the market helps ease pressure on the local rental market”, he noted, reaffirming the group’s commitment to keep investing to reach its 2031 target.
The expansion strategy responds to the gap between specialist accommodation supply and student demand in Europe’s main markets. The group plans to increase capacity by developing and managing residences in partnership with universities and local authorities.
Livensa Group is also investing in new digital infrastructure to improve booking management, resident onboarding and services during their stay. This will be led by Irene Gómez Luque, who joined the management team as Chief Digital and Innovation Officer on 14 September.
