Lagoom Living has opened the allocation process for 202 homes under the general scheme for affordable rental accommodation in Distrito Universidad, Málaga. The call for applications, relating to plot R12, has been published in the Official Gazette of the Province and the registration period will run from 13 to 31 July.
This new phase forms part of a residential development comprising 530 affordable rental homes, promoted through a public-private partnership between the Spanish Government, the Regional Government of Andalusia and Málaga City Council, with funding from the Official Credit Institute via the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the European Union’s Next Generation funds.
Plot R12 will comprise six residential blocks, each with a ground floor and five storeys, offering one- and two-bedroom flats, all of which will come with an allocated parking space and a storage room. The expected rents range from €446 to €512 per month, excluding chargeable service charges.
The project includes communal areas such as a swimming pool, children’s play areas, an outdoor gym and co-working spaces. It will also have an A energy rating and BREEAM certification, as part of an approach aimed at reducing the development’s energy consumption.
The allocation process will be carried out in coordination with the Municipal Housing Institute, which will manage registrations, the drawing up of lists, the periods for submitting objections and the selection system based on a ballot. Those who applied in previous phases of the Distrito Universidad scheme may also take part, provided they have not already been allocated a property.
The R3 and R15 developments, launched in March and June this year, have together received over 14,000 applications, a figure that reflects the pressure of demand for affordable housing in Málaga.
Distrito Universidad also includes an agreement between Lagoom Living and Ikea Málaga to enable future successful applicants to benefit from preferential terms when furnishing their homes.
