Ignacio Sagües left AXA Investment Managers in May to lead a new Spanish team, which should expand its range of sectoral investment, beyond the focus on the office segment, to include other segments such as housing, logistics and build-to-rent. According to Ignacio Sagües in an interview to Spanish daily newspaper Eje Prime, the company is already «negotiating several operations» within these segments.
According to information reported by Expansión at the beginning of April, Starwood Capital was already seeking opportunities in the Spanish hotel market, one of the most affected by the pandemic.
Last year alone, the American company invested around 483 million euro in Madrid and Barcelona’s office markets. The latest and largest acquisition was the Las Mercedes Business Park located in Madrid, from GreenOak for 205 million euro.
