The Vialia Estación de Vigo shopping center, managed by Nhood España, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, September 30. Among the personalities who attended the inauguration were the Secretary of State for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Isabel Pardo de Vera; the Regional Minister of Infrastructures and Mobility, Ethel Vázquez; and the president of Nhood Spain, Manuel Teba.
The head of Mitma emphasized that the intermodal station will be a large public space that will provide a new vision of the city and, in this way, has set it as an example of the type of mobility to which the Government aspires: safe, sustainable and connected, capable of finding a balance between the different modes of transport and putting citizens at the center of all actions.
Teba stressed that thanks to public-private collaboration, the most important urban regeneration in Spain has been possible, as ratified by the Asprima SIMA 2021 award for the best initiative in this field. He also stated that Vialia Vigo was born adapting to the people of the city and that it will create 2.000 jobs.
Located in the heart of the city, the new space designed by the prestigious American architect Thom Mayne, houses an intermodal train and bus station, a public square of more than 3.000 sqm, an entertainment and restaurant area and a shopping center with more than 120 stores, whose current occupancy rate exceeds 95% with brands such as Fnac, H&M, Alcampo, C&A, Primark and Yelmo Cines, among others.
Among the latest additions to its commercial offer are the clothing firm New Blanco, the aesthetic and laser clinic Artepil, the Movistar store, the video game store Game and the technology chain Hubside.
This center of life and encounter, which has already won an award for the best urban regeneration at the national level, even before its opening, will have gastronomy as one of the central axes of its offer. Its open-air food court, with a show area, offers visitors a wide variety of establishments such as McDonald's, Burger King, Muerde la Pasta, KFC, Taco Bell, Vips and Ginos. The special highlight of its culinary offer will be the new "Centeno" restaurant, run by Michelin-starred chef Rafa Centeno, which will offer a concept that is committed to a healthy, less meat menu for all budgets.
Local operators will be an essential part of the center's identity. Brands such as Meu Fit, La Pepita, Koa Poke, Vioncas Bake and La Chuliña will also be present in Vialia Estación de Vigo.
Vigo is a city linked to families, green spaces, sports and urban art, all of which will be represented in Vialia Estación de Vigo through its public square. Among many other activities, it will have an urban skate park, a 3x3 basketball court, a pump track, a soccer field, a workout area, children's leisure areas, relaxation areas and petanque courts. Pets will also be able to enjoy the center with a space specially designed for them.
In addition, the complex is a source of economic activity. The employment portal of Vialia Estación de Vigo has received more than 17,500 resumes, more than 250,000 visits and more than 375 job offers.
