Valdecarros Madrid reached an agreement with the company Alerce Iberian Properties for the acquisition of a plot of almost 20,000 sqm, which will house the first retail park of the Valdecarros urban development. The plot is located at the intersection of the extension of Avenida de la Gavia and Avenida de la Atalayuela, a strategic position that will meet the needs of 40,000 new residents of stages 1, 2 and 3 of Valdecarros, as well as the inhabitants of nearby areas such as Ensanche de Vallecas and Atalayuela, reaching a target of 130,000 inhabitants.
The project has a buildable area of up to 31,000 sqm and has been awarded to Alerce Iberian Properties, a company specialising in the investment and development of commercial real estate assets, following a sales process organised by the Junta de Compensación de Valdecarros that attracted the interest of eight shopping centre developers.
The retail park will be designed by Chapman Taylor architects, renowned for their expertise in retail space and responsible for more than 3,000 projects in over 100 countries. Their notable works include Heathrow Airport's Terminals 2 and 5 shopping precinct, the Mall of Qatar shopping centre and the historic Elden Square in Newcastle.
The retail park will comprise of world-class food operators as its main attraction, complemented by a service arcade and medium-sized activity centres. These will include a food court, gym, pet shop and beauty salon, among others. This model seeks to satisfy the needs of the residents of Valdecarros and surrounding areas, while promoting economic and social activity.
