The Catalan supermarket chain has announced an investment of seven million euros in the opening of a sports centre in Barcelona. Specifically, Sorli has bought the Seat building in Plaça Cerdà, which has a surface area of 2,000 square metres. This facility will create twelve jobs.
The facility is scheduled to open in June 2024. With this centre, there are now six Sorli Sport spaces that "integrate the concept of sports space and supermarket". The other spaces are located in Badalona, Sant Vicenç de Montalt, Vilassar de Dalt and Sitges, all in the province of Barcelona.
In the company's press release, the new Sorli Sport is "equipped with state-of-the-art machines and will offer directed activities such as cycling, yoga, toning and group functions, among others". In addition, the centre will include personal training, fitness, calisthenics and spa, nutrition, aesthetics and physiotherapy services. The statement adds that, with this centre, "the group promotes the health and nutrition ecosystem".
In the last six years, the group has carried out a process of reforms and renovation of the entire supermarket network to implement the new commercial model, with an investment of more than seventy million euros. In 2023, when this phase was completed, it began a phase of expansion with the opening of new shops and a logistics centre in the Barcelona municipality of Granollers, which grew from 14,000 square metres to more than 25,000 square metres.
