Frey and Eurofund to invest €145M in their retail park in Lleida

Shopping Promenade Lleida, promoted by Eurofund Group and Frey, has updated the figures for the project presented in 2022 and will increase its planned investment to over €145 million. The development, conceived as the first large retail and leisure park in the province, will cover an area of more than 56,000 sqm.

In its initial announcement, the investment exceeded €100 million and the planned surface area was 55,500 sqm. The revision of the project increases both the volume of capital committed and the final size of the complex.

The retail park will combine shopping, restaurants, leisure and entertainment, and is aimed at an estimated catchment area of around 350,000 people. According to the developers, Lleida and Teruel are currently the only Spanish provinces without a large-scale retail infrastructure, which, according to their estimates, causes a loss of consumption of around €400 million per year to other cities.

Of the total planned investment, more than €9 million will be allocated to mobility, urbanisation and accessibility measures within the framework of the agreements signed with the Paeria de Lleida. These measures will be integrated into the public infrastructure linked to the development.

In terms of employment, the project is expected to generate around 400 direct jobs linked to its operations and more than 1,000 indirect jobs associated with its construction and activity.

Ion Saralegui, CEO of Eurofund Group, points out that "Shopping Promenade Lleida strengthens Spain's commercial map by bringing an open, modern and sustainable commercial format to a region that lacked a similar offering. With this project, we are not only seeking to rebalance the distribution of consumption, retaining spending that is currently moving to other provinces; we want to demonstrate how private investment can become an engine of economic and social development by activating the region's full commercial potential."

Thibault Coatanea, Head of Iberia at FREY, states that "it reflects a long-term commitment to the urban and economic development of the city. Beyond the investment itself, the project aims to create an open and sustainable destination, designed to support the growth of Lleida and reinforce its lasting appeal."

The development is part of the Shopping Promenade concept, promoted by Frey and present in various European destinations, especially in France, under an open retail park model that integrates commerce and leisure spaces. It will also have B Corp certification and a BREEAM Excellent pre-assessment. In addition, it plans to obtain 5-star accessibility certification.
