Diglo has launched 18 premises and an office located on a mezzanine floor in Galicia, with the possibility of both residential and commercial use. This decision comes as a result of the recent modification in the habitability regulations that was ratified by the Xunta de Galicia on 7 September.
The aforementioned properties are distributed in various provinces: eight premises in A Coruña, seven in Pontevedra with the inclusion of the mezzanine office, two in Lugo and one in Ourense.
"The reform of the habitability regulations is a great opportunity for young and old people to have a home at a lower cost. In addition, this new law will allow local councils to make exceptions and simplify the necessary adaptation requirements, always guaranteeing the privacy of residents in certain areas," said Verónica Pérez Balirac, head of Diglo's Real Estate division in Galicia.
Renovation of habitability
In relation to the reform of habitability, the Xunta de Galicia promoted this change to revitalise commercial premises in urban areas and expand the available housing stock. The new regulation aims to facilitate the transformation of these premises for residential purposes and gives local councils the ability to make adjustments to the adaptation requirements in certain cases.
In addition, new criteria have been incorporated to determine the classification of dwellings as exterior and other aspects that have an impact on habitability. These updates have been examined and discussed by the Galician Housing Observatory, professionals in the sector, government bodies and the community in general.
