Altarea Commerce has completed the renovation of the Sant Cugat Shopping Centre, located 25 minutes from Barcelona. This project, which has involved an investment of eleven million euros, is part of the company's strategy to combine innovation, sustainability and functionality, with the aim of offering a more complete and attractive shopping experience.
Acquired by Altarea in 2008, the shopping centre has undergone a transformation in several stages. Initially, the purchase included only the shopping centre, without the hypermarket. In 2015, the company completed the acquisition of the hypermarket, which allowed it to undertake a comprehensive renovation of the facilities.
The refurbishment project, which began in 2022, has restructured both the interior and exterior spaces, incorporating improvements such as optimised natural lighting, intuitive signage and a design that makes it easier for visitors to navigate. In addition, landscaped areas, a children's playground and a pergola for food trucks have been added, expanding the gastronomic offer and reinforcing the outdoor experience.
The Sant Cugat Shopping Centre now has a diversified offer that includes 81 shops and restaurants, a cinema and 10 kiosk spaces. Featured brands include Carrefour, Decathlon, Primark and several firms from the Inditex group, along with local shops such as greengrocers, butchers and fishmongers.
Spread over two levels, the centre has adapted its facilities to meet the needs of families, with rest areas and a renovated car park. In 2023, it welcomed more than six million visitors, with a 5% increase expected in 2024.
