The Regional Minister of Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago, and the Mayor of Andratx, Antoni Mir, have signed the protocol that gives the green light to the construction of the first residence for dependent elderly people in the municipality of Andratx.
The president of the Government, Francina Armengol, has attended the signing of this protocol, which represents an investment of around 5.5 million euros, which will be fully assumed by the regional Executive through the Department of Social Affairs and Sports.
At first, it was planned that the City Council would advance the money, but finally it will be done with the Conselleria's own items. Once the residence is finished and authorized, the Department will finance the arranged places in the new equipment to attend to people in a situation of dependency, informs the Balearic Executive.
The residence hall will have sixty places and will have a planned area of 2,700 sqm. It will be built on a 3,216-sqm plot on Calle Son Lluís donated by the Andratx City Council.
These sixty places will become part of the Public Network of Attention to the Dependency of the Balearic Islands. The construction of the Andratx residence is added to the facilities that the Ministry is promoting to care for the elderly in a situation of dependency.
This operation transcends after a few days ago the Community Health Service put out to tender for 86 million euros the works of different health centers on the islands, according to the profile of the contractor.
The contract provides for the concession of works for the construction, maintenance and operation of nine health centers and basic primary care health units. The tender has a ten-year execution term and consists of a provisional required guarantee equivalent to 3% of the total tendered, while the final required guarantee is 5%.
The centers affected by this tender are the Bons Aires Health Center (Palma), the Trencadors Health Center (S'Arenal de Llucmajor), the Son Ferriol Health Center (Palma), the Nuredduna Health Center (Artà), the the new Nuredduna Health Center (Artà), the Pollença Health Center (Pollença), the Santa Margalida Basic Health Unit, the Consell Basic Health Unit, the Montuïri Basic Health Unit and the Sant Joan Basic Health Unit.
