The Smart Studios network was acquired by the investment group Round Hill Capital for a total value of 200 million euros, according to Expresso.
This deal becomes one of the largest ever completed in real estate this year. Ricardo Kendall, founder and CEO of Smart Studios, had already mentioned that “it is more or less clear that, in 2022, the company will be sold”, at the end of last year.
Round Hill Capital, in November 2021, had announced a partnership to invest €1,000M in student residences, namely in the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Italy.
It should be remembered that Smart Studios, a network that provides co-living residences with studios and apartments in an all-inclusive concept for students and professionals, currently has 9 residences in Lisbon, namely in Santa Apolónia, Carcavelos, Janelas Verdes (Santos), Ajuda, Orange trees and Campolide. In addition, it also intends to inaugurate a coliving residence at the Estoril Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism, on July 15, 2022, and at the Asprela University Campus, on September 15, 2022.
In total, the network of coliving spaces and student residences houses 2070 apartments in Lisbon, Carcavelos and Porto.
