The Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Fundão plans to expand the nursery, build collaborative housing, temporary and emergency residences, and a new senior residence. To make these initiatives a reality, an investment of 10 million euros is planned.
These are three investments planned for the next three years, as part of applications to the PARES 3.0 program and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Over the next three years, Santa Casa da Misericordia do Fundão plans to complete a series of projects that will improve quality and increase increase the institution's portfolio of social responses, says the organization, according to Lusa. In the course of this year, the nursery's facilities will be expanded in 2024.
The restoration of the historic Bairro de Santa Isabel, a group of semi-detached houses, will give way to a new social response that involves collaborative housing, an investment of 1.27 million euros, with a 1.17 million euro contribution from the PRR.
The project consists of creating a community with 18 independent homes, interconnected by glass corridors that will encircle the entire neighborhood and converge in a common central multi-purpose building, made up of two floors of community services, the institution said.
As for the “Casa das Escamas”, located next to the Fundão Hospital, it will be converted into temporary emergency housing, as part of an application to the 'Bolsa Nacional de Alojamento Urgente e Temporária do Instituto de Habitação e de Requalificação Urbana', to the value of 1.7 million euros, co-financed by 1.56 million euros.
The Misericórdia Home was recently demolished and a new one is planned for the site, increasing its capacity from 86 to 100 users. The work was applied for under the PARES 3.0 program and has been supported by around 2.5 million euros, for a total investment of over 6 million euros, says the institution.
