“We need it like eating, because we try to control housing prices with witty and absurd measures, when we can transform commerce into housing,” said the manager at a meeting organized by the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW).
Clemente explained that street commerce will lose between 10% and 12% of sales share due to digital sales, which will generate an impact of close to 25% in the sector and will mean that stores that are located on roads with little traffic left empty for a long time. The same goes for offices located in residential buildings that are of poor quality and should be returned to “their original use”.
Regarding the impact of the pandemic in the shopping center sector Clemente has ensured that the possibility of a variable income subject to sales is not spreading because retailers “do not want” to share sales data , while reducing the impact of Covid on office occupancy.
