Merkel Capital has been awarded, by public auction, a 5,000 square metre building plot on Avenida de Zaragoza and Calle Sadar, in Pamplona, on which it intends to build a residence hall with studios and flats and up to 175 beds. The project is intended for Master's and PhD students, as well as university-related staff, and will include services such as a swimming pool, solarium, gymnasium and coworking rooms. It will also have a cafeteria open to the general public.
In this way, it completes its offer of beds for university students, as it plans to open its first student residence in Pamplona, with 348 beds, at the beginning of the 2024 academic year. The project, which is located between the University of Navarra and the Public University of Navarra, will have a ground floor plus six floors, with studios and one- and two-bedroom flats, with terrace, and Breeam very good certification.
Merkel is currently immersed in the construction of four university residences in the cities of Barcelona, Pamplona, Granada and Seville. In addition, it has plans for future residences in Valencia, as well as the recently acquired land in Madrid and now Pamplona, where work is expected to begin in 2024.
By the end of the year, the company will have completed investments of 300 million euros in student residences (more than 3,000 beds) and is thus approaching its strategic objective of investing more than 450 million euros to develop 5,000 beds over the next three years.
