The Municipality of Matosinhos has approved the opening of a public tender for the construction of 64 social housing units, with an investment of 8.4 million euros. This initiative is funded by the Resilience and Recovery Plan, as announced by the municipality.
The new housing complex will consist of two four-storey buildings (ground floor plus three) and will have 38 apartments of type 1 (T1), 18 of type 2 (T2) and 8 of type 3 (T3). It will be built in the Cruz de Pau area, near the Estadio do Mar.
The estimated time for the construction of the 64 new housing units, totaling 6,590 square meters, is 14 months. The Matosinhos City Council unanimously approved the public tender at a decentralized meeting of the executive.
"Some of the one-bedroom apartments on the ground floor have been upgraded from two-bedrooms to one-bedrooms in order to take account of the garbage tip in the building itself, and to make common entrances, for a total of 6 dwellings", says the municipality.
Walks, stairs and access ramps to the buildings, parking areas, pedestrian routes, a shared crossing road and green areas adjacent to the buildings will also be built, totaling an area of 3,148 square meters.
"In terms of construction, we sought above all to respond with quality, giving priority to the use of materials and technologies that ensure lower maintenance costs, not only on the façades and roofs but also inside the homes", says the municipality.
