AHS has acquired the Gran Hotel Tixaire in Puigcerdà, in the province of Girona, to convert it into a residential development of 14 homes. The project involves refurbishing the historic building, which dates from 1884, and targets both local residents and second-home buyers.
The company will invest €5 million in the acquisition, refurbishment and sale of the property. Prices will start at €350,000, and completion is scheduled for the end of 2027.
The works aim to preserve the building’s historic architectural features while adding modern amenities. Designed by architect Joan Trias and extended in 1889, the hotel was one of the leading hotels in the Cerdanya region, in the Catalan Pyrenees, during the early decades of the 20th century.
The deal is part of AHS’s strategy of bringing disused buildings and assets back into use for the residential market, particularly in areas with a limited supply of housing.
