Aedas Homes has presented Ilex, its first high-rise residential project with a wooden structure in Valencia, specifically in Godella. This development follows in the footsteps of the successful Fioresta development in San Juan de Alicante, which was recognised as 'Best Free Housing Development' at the 2004 SIMA-ASPRIMA Awards, and as Best Green Asset Initiative of the Year at the 2023 Iberian Property Investment Awards.
Ilex, located in the new Virentia neighbourhood, will offer 68 two- to four-bedroom homes, with extensive communal areas including swimming pools for adults and children, gardens, an outdoor reading area, social space, children's play area and more. In addition, the project incorporates archaeological remains of a Roman aqueduct, which will be restored and integrated into the community gardens.
Cristina Andrés, manager of Aedas Homes developments in Levante, highlights the sustainability of Ilex: "This development consolidates the return of wood to residential construction and ratifies our commitment to sustainability. Wood is an ecological material par excellence as it is 100% recyclable, biodegradable and its production process absorbs CO2 instead of emitting it".
Ilex's design also promotes energy efficiency through the use of systems such as aerothermal energy for hot water production and photovoltaic panels for power generation. The building's certified timber structure will store approximately 2,600 tonnes of carbon, significantly reducing the project's carbon footprint.
The company 011h, known for its focus on carbon neutral construction, will be in charge of the construction of Ilex, promising a faster and more efficient process with a 30% reduction in construction times through the digitisation and industrialisation of processes.
