The Society of Jesus is investing 21 million euros in the construction of new educational facilities for its postgraduate centres in the capital, according to Cinco Días.
Specifically, the Jesuits are constructing a building on Calle Mateo Inurria that will house classrooms for Deusto Business School, the postgraduate courses of Comillas Pontifical University and the new Advantere business school. The centre is located just a few metres from Esade, another business school linked to the Jesuits.
The campus will have a surface area of 8,000 square metres with classrooms, an auditorium, a coworking space, a cafeteria, a canteen and an immersive classroom. The site is adjacent to the Nuestra Señora del Recuerdo school, also owned by the Jesuit order.
The centre will be located at number 39 Mateo Inurria street and will be named Campus Arrupe, in honour of a former member of the order, Father Arrupe. Construction is already at an advanced stage, and it is expected to be operational for the next academic year 2024-2025. Thus, Deusto will leave the Madrid campus located in Calle de Castelló, in the Salamanca district.
This transaction is in addition to the latest sales of educational facilities that have taken place in Madrid in recent months. Last September, the Canadian fund sold the Universidad Pontificia Comillas the former office building of El Corte Inglés on Calle Princesa in Madrid, annexed to the four-star hotel.
Another of the latest operations in the sector has been the leasing of 1,050 square metres by the EAE business school in Príncipe de Vergara, together with ESCP, which has taken a 1,856 square metre property at number four of María de Molina and Schiller University, which has opened at Recoletos 35.
