Sonagi has become the owner of more than two-thirds of the Jean Monnet building, located on Lisbon's Avenida da Liberdade. The office building, which houses the current headquarters of the European Parliament and the European Commission in Lisbon, is made "highly attractive" by its excellent location. Worx Real Estate Consultants advised on the sale.
The purchase of more than 70% of the Jean Monnet building is the second major acquisition in the area of real estate investment made since 2021 by the Sonagi real estate holding company, whose main shareholder is Sodim, the holding company of the Queiroz Pereira family.
The 8,770 square metres acquired by Sonagi will now undergo major refurbishment, and will be available within a year. The floors, with areas of 790 square metres, "will respond to the scarcity of office spaces of this dimension that exist on Avenida da Liberdade, standing out for the views over the city and the river, for the quality of its renovation and for the concerns with sustainability and energy efficiency of the spaces".
For Francisco Caldeira, from Worx Real Estate Consultant's Capital Markets team, "the transaction of this renowned building demonstrates that, as Worx has stated, despite the global situation, the national real estate investment market remains resilient. We are honoured to have once again participated in a competitive process in which we were once again able to present the best proposal, safeguarding the interests of all parties involved".
