IWG has opened a new centre in Sant Cugat del Vallès, in partnership with BentallGreenOak, which will operate under the Regus brand. With this new opening, the group seeks to respond to the incessant demand from workers to adopt a hybrid work model, in which they can carry out their working day wherever and however they want. Thus, the province becomes one of the urban centres with more flexible work spaces in Spain, in addition to the opening last January of the Spaces Plaza Molina centre.
In this context, visits to the group's hybrid work centres have increased by almost 40% in the first months of this year, compared to December 2022. Regus Vallsolana is the result of IWG's partnership with BentallGreenOak, focused on providing the business park with a flexible, multi-service character, which adds significant value and attracts tenants. We believe in the importance of adapting to the changing needs of professionals and businesses, offering partners all the experience and know-how of IWG.
With the addition of the IWG business centre, BentallGreenOak completes the transformation of the business park over the past few years, with the refurbishment of all common areas and the achievement of Well Gold and LEED Gold certifications. In addition, the business park is located in a unique environment, just a few metres from the Sant Joan train station, which connects workers to the city of Barcelona in less than 30 minutes, with more than 86,500 sqm of green areas and offering multiple services to workers such as paddle tennis courts, a gym, play area, hotel with swimming pool, etc.
The new centre offers both coworking spaces and private offices, and integrates companies from a variety of sectors, ranging from fashion and technology giants to startups looking to maximise their profits. In addition, these companies will be able to benefit from the services offered by IWG to fully adapt to their needs. With this new location, the IWG group is fulfilling its expansion plan, which foresees adding 1,000 new centres to its network by next year.
Hybrid working and care for the environment
The hybrid working model brings benefits for the well-being of employees and also for the care of the planet. In fact, according to a recent study by IWG and Arup, a company specialising in design and engineering, this working model can lead to significant savings in carbon emissions and have a significant impact on the climate crisis. Based on this, the analysis concludes that in a city like Manchester, with a metropolitan area similar to Barcelona, the reduction in emissions could be up to 70% with the implementation of the hybrid format.
Philippe Jimenez, country manager of IWG said: "At IWG, we are excited to consolidate our leadership in the coworking sector in Barcelona with the opening of our new centre in Sant Cugat del Vallès, in partnership with the real estate company BentallGreenOak, under the Regus brand. This opening allows us to meet the growing demand from workers looking for a flexible hybrid work model. In this way, we contribute to the ongoing economic development of Catalonia, which is attracting more and more professionals, and the flexible working model has proven to increase worker productivity, allowing companies to grow while reducing costs and contributing to the environment".
