Equito, a Catalan startup dedicated to real estate investment through tokenisation, has moved its offices to the Barcelona Finance Hub (BFH), located in the historic building of the Barcelona Stock Exchange on Paseo de Gracia. This move represents a step forward in the evolution of the company, which since its launch has sold more than €8.2 million in tokens, offering an average return of 9% to investors, has financed 43 properties and has a user base of 150,000 users.
According to Robin Decaux, CEO and founder of Equito: "The objective of this move is to scale our operations and strengthen our presence in the Spanish real estate sector". This move is part of a broader expansion plan that aims to reach €70 million in assets under management by 2026 and €170 million by 2027.
The company currently has a team of 12 professionals, specialising in technology, finance and real estate. Equito plans to expand, with plans to hire 11 new employees by 2024, including engineers, product managers and marketing specialists, to reach a team of 23 by 2025.
Regarding the location of the new offices, Decaux says: "The move to BFH is a big step forward and opens a new phase for Equito. As the first startup in the BFH, we will be in direct contact with the main players in the financial sector, from corporations to regulators, in an environment that fosters innovation. This strategic position will allow us to accelerate our product development and explore opportunities in FinTech and PropTech".
The Barcelona Finance Hub, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya and managed by Aticco, has more than 600 companies employing 100,000 people and a turnover of 46 billion euros in 2022. "The location will allow Equito to form key partnerships with institutions such as Caixa d'Enginyers, EAE Business School and the Institut d'Estudis Financers, and collaborate with regulators to develop investment solutions that prioritise investor protection," says Decaux.
In addition, Equito plans to leverage its new headquarters at the BFH to organise educational events and workshops to promote understanding of real estate investment opportunities.
