CaixaBank’s insurance subsidiary, VidaCaixa, has finalised the acquisition of the Central Tower in the Cerdà complex in Barcelona, in a deal worth just over €20 million, according to Ejeprime. The property belonged to the Metrópolis Group and its purchase had been agreed in 2025 as part of the company’s growth strategy.
The transaction does not represent a radical change of location, but rather an expansion and consolidation of spaces already linked to the group’s activities. VidaCaixa already has offices in the same tower, specifically on the eighth floor, as well as occupying the entire Torre Sur of the complex. The acquisition allows for a better reorganisation and centralisation of workspaces within the same business environment.
The Cerdà complex also houses other operations of the financial group in Barcelona. MicroBank occupies the ninth and tenth floors of the Central Tower, while SegurCaixa Adeslas occupies the entire North Tower. This concentration of the group’s companies in a single space reinforces the strategy of operational integration.
The organisation explained that this purchase directly addresses the needs arising from the 2025–2027 strategic plan. The aim is to support the anticipated organic growth and improve the organisation of teams within a more efficient environment. The property investment is seen as a tool to underpin the business’s development.
The new premises will enable VidaCaixa to adapt its offices to more flexible and collaborative ways of working. The company aims to foster coordination between teams, improve work-life balance and strengthen employees’ connection to the corporate vision. In this regard, the design of the physical environment is considered a key factor in productivity.
