The plenary session of the Diputación de Alicante unanimously approved last Monday 11 December the awarding of the contract for the acquisition of the building of the Fundación Caja Mediterráneo in Glorieta de Elche.
The building, which will cost 4.7 million (4,694,6324 euros), will be transformed into the headquarters of the provincial institution in the city centre.
The councillor for the area and councillor for Elche, Juan de Dios Navarro, said that "with this agreement we are once again fulfilling the commitment made by the provincial council to the city of Elche and the Baix Vinalopó region, in this case with a project that will allow us to decentralise the provincial administration and bring it closer to the municipalities".
The future headquarters will have an institutional and cultural character, said the deputy, who also stressed that the project will allow the recovery and enhancement of a historic and emblematic building for the city.
