Elis, the international group specialising in circular solutions for the rental, maintenance and sanitisation of textile products, has launched a new industrial plant in Illescas, Toledo, adding to the 38 other production and distribution centres it already had in Spain.
This is a strategic facility that will enable the company to strengthen its growth in this market, where it has an investment plan exceeding €80 million.
The new facility represents an investment of €14 million and is situated on a 28,000-sqm site, with 5,500 sqm of built space.
The plant will specialise in circular solutions for the rental and maintenance of workwear for industrial and service companies, although it will also support other areas of Elis’s business such as healthcare hygiene, carpets, water dispensers and plain clothing for small businesses. This system helps to extend the useful life of products, optimise resources and reduce waste.
One of the key features of the new plant is its focus on resource efficiency. The facility incorporates advanced automation and traceability systems, a dual production line (Standard Line and Fast Line), intelligent garment sorting, and automated folding and hanging solutions, optimising both operational capacity and the quality and reliability of the service.
It also features water recovery and reuse systems capable of reusing approximately a third of the water used in washing processes, Zero Steam technology – which uses neither steam nor thermal oil – and a 47 kWp solar panel installation designed to optimise the centre’s energy consumption.
This model is part of Elis’s global strategy based on the circular economy and the ‘product as a service’ model, through the rental, maintenance, reuse and recycling of textile and hygiene products. In fact, 86% of the group’s turnover already comes from this model, which prioritises usage over ownership.
With a global turnover of €4.5 billion, Elis operates through an extensive network of centres specialising in industrial laundry and hygiene and wellbeing services across 31 countries. In Spain, it has a turnover of €314 million and employs over 4,400 people.
