Portuguese company Casais Group and the Spanish company ACR have established CREE Iberia, a joint venture in which both firms hold a 50% stake. The company has the exclusive licence for the CREE Buildings hybrid industrialised system in the Iberian Peninsula and will focus on promoting, developing and expanding its application across the region.

The new company will enable closer coordination of the commercial, technical and operational development of the CREE system in Portugal and Spain. CREE Iberia will work on projects undertaken by Casais Group and ACR, as well as on opportunities developed jointly with clients and developers and, where the nature of the project or the market warrants it, through selective collaborations with local companies that provide complementary expertise.

The partnership draws on the combined experience of both companies. Casais Group has developed an industrialisation strategy, with in-house capabilities in prefabrication, engineering, BIM, MEP integration and complementary industrialised solutions. ACR has a strong presence in the Spanish market and experience in construction, together with an ongoing commitment to more collaborative, efficient and sustainable construction models.

Both companies have previously collaborated on projects using the CREE Buildings system, including the B&B Hotel Madrid Tres Cantos.

CREE Iberia will focus its activities on projects where industrialised construction is expected to offer technical and operational benefits, particularly in sectors such as hotels, student accommodation, senior living, housing, flex living and other assets where repeatability, speed, quality and sustainability are important considerations.

The new company will also promote technical collaboration between teams, continuous improvement of the system, coordination of suppliers, the development of complementary solutions, and research into certifications requirements and sustainability criteria applicable to the Iberian market.

“CREE Iberia marks a new phase in our commitment to industrialisation. The construction sector needs systems that are more predictable, more collaborative and have a lower environmental impact. This alliance with ACR enables us to combine industrial know-how, technical expertise and a local presence to accelerate the roll-out of a solution that can play a significant role in transforming the sector across the Iberian Peninsula”, emphasised António Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of Casais Group.

“The creation of CREE Iberia reinforces a commitment we have been pursuing for years: to build better, using more industrialised processes, with greater certainty and sustainable solutions. Collaborating with the Casais Group allows us to share knowledge, expand our capabilities and move forward with greater momentum on projects where CREE Buildings can bring distinctive value to the Spanish and Iberian markets”, noted Michel Elizalde, Chairman and CEO of ACR.

CREE Buildings is a hybrid industrialised construction system that combines timber, concrete and other prefabricated components. It is designed to enable more efficient, flexible and sustainable project delivery by integrating design, engineering, manufacturing, logistics and construction from the earliest stages of a project, helping to improve predictability throughout the construction process.
