SEPES has closed the sale of a 101,310 square metre plot to the Montepino Logística Zaragoza SLU group, located in the Malpica-Santa Isabel industrial and logistics estate in Zaragoza, where Inditex will build a large logistics centre. The allocation of plot PR-2.1 is for the construction of a logistics complex of almost 420,000 square metres, which will include green areas and equipment areas, and is expected to generate 1,500 jobs. The formalisation of the agreement took place before a notary, with the participation of Leire Iglesias, Director General of SEPES, and Juan José Vera Villamayor, Director General of Montepino.
This project is part of a wider initiative, the 'Aragon Malpica-Santa Isabel General Interest Project', aimed at revitalising previously unused land - in particular, the former campus of the Universidad Laboral Virgen del Pilar in Zaragoza - to promote the establishment of companies and job creation through collaboration between different administrative levels.
In this context, SEPES and the Government of Aragon signed an agreement in September 2022 to use the land of the Malpica-Santa Isabel Industrial Estate, previously developed by SEPES in the 1960s and until now unused. The aim is to expand the logistics capacities of the area, responding to the high demand for industrial space that could not be met due to the scarcity of available land.
In addition, SEPES contributed to the project with another lot of almost 26,000 square metres, allocated last December through a public tender, which represents approximately 30% of the total land earmarked for logistics development.
Leire Iglesias stressed that the sale of this plot in Zaragoza symbolises the company's commitment to the reuse of previously unused public land, facilitating projects that promote economic activity and job creation throughout Spain. The CEO of SEPES emphasised the organisation's role in supporting sustainable urban development and stimulating both economic growth and job creation.
