In total, the company will invest 14 million euro in developing this new logistic project. This operation has been advised by real estate consultant CBRE.
According to Renta Corporación’s note, this operation represents a new bet from the company in a segment that is at its peak, since the growing use of e-commerce has boosted demand for logistic spaces and warehouses. The economy’s digitalisation process, which accelerated during the pandemic, has boosted demand for data centres, converting Barcelona into one of Southern Europe’s main digital logistic hubs.
Following the demolition of the buildings still standing on the parcel, the real estate company will divide the terrains, on which it will build a data centre with 10.000 sqm and three industrial warehouses with a total combined area of 8.500 sqm over the ground and 2.500 sqm below the ground.
Located in the former Basf and Stahl’s chemical plant, the asset is located at Hospitalet’s Carretera del Mig, close to the port of Barcelona and the El Prat airport.
Luis Guardia, director of Tertiary Assets at Renta Corporación, stated that «the asset is situated in an excellent logistic location, which allows an easy connection to roads and railroads to the rest of Spain and to the rest of Europe».
