Lidl has opened one of its largest logistics platforms in Spain in Nanclares de la Oca (Álava), in which it has invested 75 million euros.
With a surface area of 53,000 sqm and more than 120 loading and unloading docks, this macro logistics center has become the second largest of the supermarket chain in our country, which allows it to double its logistics capacity in the Basque Country and also boost its business in other regions of the north of the peninsula, where it expects to continue growing with the opening of new stores, the creation of more jobs and the purchase of more local products.
Located in the Los Llanos industrial estate, the facilities have the capacity to store more than 40,000 pallets, which will serve to supply a network of more than ninety stores located in the Basque Country and other regions in the north of the peninsula, such as Cantabria, Castilla y León , La Rioja or Navarra.
"The start-up of this warehouse represents an important step forward for Lidl, since with it we double our logistics capacity in the Basque Country, which allows us to fully guarantee our growth plans both here and in other areas of northern Spain and, with this, continue contributing to economic and social development wherever we are present", stressed Claus Grande, general manager of Lidl in Spain.
In the last five years, Lidl has invested more than 500 million euros in its expansion plan in the Basque Country, where it has also promoted the opening and modernization of a dozen stores in cities such as Bilbao, San Sebastián or Vitoria.
