Global Technical Realty has bought a plot of land in the Parc de l'Alba technology complex (Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona) from the platform specialising in the development of data centres Dcite, promoted by Nilo Partners and Adequa Real Estate, where it will develop a data centre. The transaction, the price of which has not been disclosed, has been advised by JLL.
Strategically located in Barcelona's top-tier data centre cluster, Parc de l'Alba is one of the largest technology projects in Catalonia. It is becoming a hub for data centres in Southern Europe and is planned to be connected to the submarine cable station and seven different operators.
Pepe Singla, partner at Dcite, says, "Our platform is currently very busy and we are very proud to have helped Global Technical Realty with these fully equipped facilities; Parc de l'Alba offers the opportunity to be part of the most strategic knowledge hubs in Catalonia".
He adds that "thanks to its excellent local, national and international connections, this site meets the urban, geotechnical and environmental requirements needed to house a new data centre; JLL's specialisation in data centres and its international and local experience have been decisive in the success of this operation", added Singla.
According to JLL's latest data, the second quarter of the year saw the highest demand for data centres in Europe, with procurement in the consolidated European markets reaching 114 megawatts (MW).
