DHL Express will invest 80 million euros in its new hub at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport, which is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2025 with direct lines from Barcelona airport to Europe, America and North Africa.
The distribution centre, with a total surface area of 10,000 square metres, is located on a 28,500 square metre site. DHL Express will have an operational mezzanine of 7,500 square metres and 3,500 square metres of office space.
The total processing capacity of the new hub will exceed 20,000 pieces per hour and will have four fingers to service more than 120 delivery vans. The complex will be equipped with eight state-of-the-art X-ray machines for checking parcels, envelopes and pallets.
The new international HUB will be connected and reinforced with the logistics warehouse that DHL Express has had located since 2019 in the Albareda industrial estate, in the Barcelona municipality of Castellbisbal, and to which the company has dedicated an investment of more than 7.6 million euros.
