Caixa Geral de Depósitos has sold a 10,000 sqm industrial unit in the Marinha Grande area to Inipol, a Portuguese company specialised in real estate investment and construction.
This industrial unit is located close to the A8 and A17. It has two basement buildings with warehouses and spaces for manufacturing and administrative services. Inipol will now rehabilitate the property, which has been vacant for around 10 years, since Grandupla abandoned the space.
Cushman & Wakefield represented Caixa Geral de Depósitos in this deal. Bruno Neves, consultant in the Industrial, Logistics and Land department of Cushman & Wakefield Portugal, points out that "this transaction demonstrates the strong dynamism felt in the industrial and logistics sector in Portugal". The specialist explains that "due to the scarcity of construction assets that meet the requirements of most companies, we have been seeing an increase in the purchase of properties for rehabilitation, thus making it faster to start operating in space, when compared to a standard licensing process".
And he adds that "the district of Leiria is one of the ones that, given its geographical location and in view of the existing accesses, has managed to attract and retain companies from the most diverse sectors, consolidating more and more the region and thus positioning itself as one of the main national axes for logistics and industry. Industry in Portugal is alive and well!", he concludes.
