The Vila Baleira Hotels & Resorts group, from Ferpinta Turismo, announced the acquisition of the aparthotel Luamar, on the island of Porto Santo, from the Sousa group. The negotiations had been going on since last summer.
The unit is located next to Vila Baleira Resort Porto Santo. It has 57 apartments and will increase the group's offer on this island to 455 rooms.
Gonçalo Teixeira, administrator of Vila Baleira Hotels & Resorts, comments that “this is a very important acquisition for Vila Baleira, as it strengthens our position and offer in a prime area of the island of Porto Santo, expanding our beach front”.
The official also adds that «it has always been our intention to strengthen our tourist offer in the Archipelago, either by expanding existing units or by acquiring other hotels. This is a business that makes sense for the group's strategy and positioning in the Madeira archipelago».
In the summer of 2020, the Ferpinta group also acquired Vila Baleira Funchal, a hotel with 86 rooms and 10 floors on Estrada Monumental, in the Lido area.
On the prospects for the market in 2022, Gonçalo Teixeira shares that «this will be an important starting point for a year that is expected to recover in attracting tourists. We believe that soon we will resume growing normality and that Porto Santo and Madeira, and Vila Baleira hotels in particular, will once again be the preferred vacation option for Portuguese and international tourists».
