The company Thor Spain has acquired the old Palmera Plaza Hotel in Jerez, in which it will invest around ten million euros to turn it into a luxury nursing home.
The start-up of this project, which has an area of 8,800 sqm and which the company has already presented to the Jerez City Council, will generate around 85 direct jobs.
The previous owner was the businessman José Luis López, who had acquired it just a few months before. The hotel establishment, which has been closed since 2014 as a result of the economic crisis, has even had to be boarded up by the town hall to prevent continuous assaults inside.
The hotel establishment opened its doors in 2002 and in 2004 it was bought by the Prestige Hotels chain. Later, it had to close due to the bankruptcy of the group and was bought by Vita Hoteliers, which also closed months later.
