Grupo Fuertes and Magic Costa Blanca have started a new project to build a theme resort in Benidorm (Alicante), called Magic Pirates Island, which is expected to open in 2025. This complex will be located close to the Terra Natura and Aqua Natura parks, as indicated by the companies in a joint statement.
This announcement follows the acquisition and presentation of the Magic World project at the previous Marina d'Or location, marking the second collaborative development between Grupo Fuertes and Magic Costa Blanca in Benidorm, following Magic Natura Resort, which was renovated in 2018 with 350 cabins.
The Magic Pirates Island project will extend over an area of 32,000 square metres and will feature approximately 270 themed cabins, inspired by pirate stories. These cabins will be part of a comprehensive family-oriented resort, integrating advanced entertainment technologies to offer an immersive pirate-themed experience.
The investment, split equally between Grupo Fuertes and Magic Costa Blanca, will go towards the construction of modern cabanas, as well as the implementation of pool areas, leisure and relaxation spaces, and the opening of new bars and restaurants. The resort is expected to open in the summer of 2025.
Both companies have highlighted the start of work on Magic Pirates Island as a significant boost to the local economy and tourism on the Costa Blanca, anticipating the creation of more than 200 jobs. It also underlines the resort's potential to offer added value and innovative leisure, fun and relaxation experiences for visitors to the region.
In connection with the Marina d'Or revitalisation project, now called 'Magic World', several key strategies were announced a week ago to address the inherited financial challenges, amounting to approximately 100 million euros in losses from previous years.
In this context, Grupo Fuertes and Magic Costa Blanca have implemented a Redundancy Plan (ERE) that will impact 7% of their staff. In addition, they have proceeded to modify some contracts to discontinuous fixed-term contracts, with the aim of preventing additional redundancies and the outsourcing of certain services provided by the resort. "These measures are designed to ensure the preservation of more than a thousand direct jobs and support numerous indirect jobs," said company representatives.
