SmartRental Group, specialising in living and hospitality in Spain, has announced a new construction project in Porto, operated under the Akeah brand. Called Akeah Porto Secret Garden, the project marks the Akeah brand's first foray into Portugal and aims to transform accommodation experiences in the city.
This is the company's second project in Portugal, following the opening of an asset in Lisbon in 2023. The first property in Lisbon, due to open in 2025, is a fully renovated 53-room building, which includes a lifestyle restaurant and will operate under the name SmartRental Collection Lisboa.
The new complex in Porto, located at Rua Casal do Pedro 28-40, Massarelos, is designed to integrate comfort with the natural surroundings. It will have 43 double rooms and offer facilities such as gardens, a large restaurant and an infinity pool with a bar providing panoramic views of the Ponte da Arrábida and the city's sunsets.
Construction of Akeah Porto Secret Garden has already begun, with an opening scheduled for June 2026. This project is expected to be a major milestone for the city and for the hotel industry.
In addition, SmartRental Group has formed a strategic alliance with Aulder to expand its presence in both Portugal and international markets, strengthening its offering and setting new standards in the industry by merging innovation and relevance.
The company, under the leadership of CEO Carlos Escoda, maintains a five-year development plan that includes the acquisition of key assets and expansion into new markets. SmartRental Group currently operates two brands in Portugal: SmartRental Collection and Akeah, and is in advanced negotiations to acquire two additional properties in Porto. Projects are also being planned for its Live it brand, which specialises in colivings.
