The MiCampus student residence platform has acquired the Tryp Leganés hotel, which it will turn into a complex for university students.
The establishment, which is located on the outskirts of the Carlos III university campus, has three stars, 127 rooms and 11 meeting rooms, as well as large common areas, a patio with chill-out areas and two underground parking floors.
The company's objective is to maintain the same number of rooms, of which 117 will be singles and 10 doubles, and to reopen as a hotel for students next September, to welcome university students for the 2022/2023 academic year.
The purchase operation, which has been advised by the international consulting firm Catella, "involves the optimization of a hotel asset through a change of management and a completely differential concept, something that we will see more and more in this type of location in the Spanish market ", says Javier Bravo, partner head of hotels & hospitality at Catella Spain.
"We are very satisfied with the acquisition of this new asset in the municipality of Leganés in which we hope to offer a great service to our clients and add value to the municipality with the quality standards of MiCampus," says Sebastián Oviedo, CEO of the company.
Currently, MiCampus has a portfolio of 40 assets (21 operational and 19 under development) and more than 8,000 beds, including student residences, hotels and coliving.
