Leonardo Hotels has announced the recent acquisition of its second hotel on the Costa del Sol, located in the centre of Torremolinos. This new property in the province of Málaga is now operating under the name Leonardo Hotel Torremolinos Costa del Sol and adds 398 rooms to the hotel group’s portfolio in the Spanish market.

The eight-storey establishment features a large outdoor swimming pool, a heated indoor pool and a rooftop terrace with a sky bar and panoramic views of the Mediterranean, as well as a restaurant and a gym. It also stands out as one of the few hotels in the area offering specific facilities for social and corporate events.

The property is situated a seven-minute walk from Bajondillo beach and on one of Torremolinos’ main shopping streets. The hotel offers direct access to leisure areas, restaurants and the traditional seaside neighbourhood of La Carihuela. It’s located just a 15-minute drive from Málaga Airport.

The chain arrived on the Costa del Sol three years ago with the addition of the Leonardo Hotel Fuengirola Costa del Sol, which has 184 rooms. With this new venture, which brings the number of its hotels in Spain to 20, “the company is reinforcing its expansion strategy in the holiday segment and consolidating its presence in one of Spain’s most promising and attractive destinations for both domestic and international tourism”,according to company sources.

Furthermore, the new hotel, which has retained the staff from its previous incarnation, secures around 150 jobs in Torremolinos. Over the coming months, the hotel is set to undergo a floor-by-floor refurbishment, with the aim of updating and enhancing its facilities in line with current standards of quality, design and service.

“The acquisition of our second property in the province of Málaga significantly strengthens our presence on the Costa del Sol, taking us to over 500 rooms. We consider Málaga to be a tourist destination with unrivalled potential in southern Europe, thanks to its climate, its range of leisure, sporting and dining options, high-quality services, and the standard of its numerous golf courses”, said Shay Raz, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels in Spain.

The company currently operates a portfolio of more than 300 hotels across 18 countries and 121 destinations, with over 50,000 rooms and more than 1,300 conference rooms.
