Through its brand The Tais Hotels & Villas, Grupo CIO is going to invest 100 million euros in the development in Tenerife of a luxury complex designed by Foster & Partners.
Located in the southwest of the island, in the town of Guía de Isora, the project has an area of more than 850,000 sqm and has been named Maguenes Resort.
The Western Islands Company (CIO), which has just received the go-ahead for the partial plan for the area by the local council, plans to invest more than one hundred million euros in it, which will serve to create "the only hotel in the Canary Islands, the work of the famous architecture studio Foster & Partners", as pointed out by the mayor of Guía de Isora, Josefa Mesa.
It will consist of a luxury boutique hotel, an area of high standing villas, a private residence club (PRC) and a golf course of more than 500,000 sqm, in whose design the professional golfer Gary Player has participated. The complex will also include a wellness & spa area.
Sustainable development is one of the priorities in the project, therefore, it will be integrated with the existing landscape using organic terraces and the slopes of the land will be used to maximize views and differentiate the various areas of the resort. Hence, it has been declared "of strategic interest at the regional level due to its urban, tourist and environmental characteristics", the company points out.
CIO began its journey in the tourism sector in 1993, with the inauguration of the Hotel Bahía del Duque. Later, in 2008, they inaugurated Las Villas, which have spaces and services for the exclusive use of their guests. In 2009, the Bahía Wellness Retreat was added to the complex, a unique thalassotherapy center in the Canary Islands due to its facilities.
