Garvetur has completed the sale of the only 5-star hotel in the Castelo Branco district, the Convento do Seixo Boutique Hotel & Spa. The mediation process was conducted by its Beira Baixa office and the acquisition was carried out by businessman Alberto Ribeiro Carlos, who also owns the Hotel Alambique in Fundão.
Located in Aldeia de Joanes, in the municipality of Fundão, the Seixo Convent dates back to 1577. After rehabilitation, which represented an investment of around 3 million euros, the convent opened its doors in the summer of 2018. This project made it possible to rebuild and convert the convent, which had been closed since 1923 and has since been classified as being of municipal interest. The initiative preserved the distinctive religious architecture.
With 16 rooms, four suites and four outdoor villas, the Convento do Seixo Boutique Hotel & Spa has two swimming pools, a meeting room, a restaurant and a space for events with capacity for 60 people. The hotel also includes a spa area in the former workshops of the Convent.
The acquisition of this 5-star hotel for the Alambique Group continues a strategy of expansion, in an exclusive style, since the Hotel Alambique has recently been extended and equipped with a spa.
Ricardo Ambrósio, Coordinator of Garvetur Properties & Holidays in Beira Baixa, stresses that the transaction, which was concluded with the signing of the deed on January 3, was a delicate process, given that the unit was still in operation and it was necessary to safeguard confidentiality in order to maintain trust with employees and clients, based on the long experience of the new owner.
