The Hotel Bahía de Vigo has been acquired by the businessman Rafael Ferreiro, owner of the real estate company Compostela Beach. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed, although it was previously offered to potential investors for 16 million euros, according to Tourinews.
The hotel asset is located in a privileged area (between the Casco Vello and the dock from where boats sail to the Cíes Islands). It has 91 rooms equipped with hydro-massage bathtubs and views over the Vigo estuary. It has the Perceberia, Taperia and Pura&Concha Restaurant, spacious rooms where large events and business meetings can be held with seating for 1,500 people.
The four-star Bahía de Vigo Hotel was inaugurated in 1971, has 18 floors and a surface area of more than 8,500 square metres. The hotel establishment will undergo a complete refurbishment and will have new management and objectives.
Despite the change of ownership, the previously designed plan to build the 'Skyline Vigo' viewpoint at the top of the building, a 60-metre-high panoramic terrace with views of the estuary and the Cíes Islands, with a cafeteria, will go ahead. According to La Voz de Galicia, the viewpoint would have a capacity for 80 visitors and the bar for 160 people.
The company Compostela Beach also owns the Hotel Riazor in A Coruña, and the Compostela and Gelmírez hotels in Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña).
