CaixaBank provided €2.5 billion in financing to Spain’s hotel and tourist accommodation sector during the first half of 2026, with the Balearic Islands accounting for almost half of the total, at close to €1.2 billion.
Through its Hotels & Tourism division, the bank completed more than 2,300 credit transactions between January and June. Financing was concentrated mainly in the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Madrid, Catalonia and Andalusia.
The funds were primarily directed towards the refurbishment and upgrading of existing establishments, hotel acquisitions, innovation and sustainability projects, as well as companies’ working capital and operational needs.
CaixaBank has channelled close to €19 billion into the tourism sector between 2020 and 2025, supporting both expansion projects and investment aimed at modernising and improving competitiveness.
At the end of June 2026, the bank’s Hotels & Tourism credit portfolio exceeded €10.5 billion and the division served more than 13,800 clients operating in the tourist accommodation sector.
