NxN Data Centers has acquired the Évora data centre, marking its entry into Portugal. The facility is located on the Lisbon–Madrid corridor and has 1 MW of installed capacity. It belonged to the Portuguese company Decsis, which has since been declared insolvent, according to Lusa.
The data centre already serves clients in Portugal. According to NxN, this allows it to start operating in the country with existing infrastructure that is already commercially active. "Évora allows us to begin our activity in Portugal with existing infrastructure in a prime location", said Sergio Riolobos, CEO of NxN Data Centers.
The operator plans to invest up to €100 million in Portugal over the next three years. The investment is not linked to a specific project. NxN says it is assessing new development and acquisition opportunities in the country to gradually expand its data centre network. It intends to grow its platform with new digital infrastructure built to its highest sustainability and efficiency standards.
"Our intention to invest up to €100 million in Portugal over the next three years reflects this commitment and our confidence in the potential of the Portuguese market", commented Javier Salas, also CEO of NxN Data Centers.
NxN was founded in 2023. It is developing a network of data centres in Spain and Portugal to meet demand for storage and computing capacity, including artificial intelligence applications. The platform has two confirmed facilities in Spain: a data centre in Madrid, due to start operating at the end of October, and a project in Valencia, now under construction. Évora is its first asset in Portugal.
