Thor Private Equity Spain will develop a General Hospital and a nursing home in Tarragona, with an estimated investment of 60 million euros.
The complex will have a constructed area of 30,000 square meters. This new asset will begin its works at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2023 and will begin to be operational in 2025.
Additionally, the private equity will promote a medicalized residence for the elderly, with a recovery area; creating a social health complex in the Catalan city. The new hub will have good connections with the city, with the Mediterranean corridor and the Ebro axis, covering the hospital demand for said city.
At the moment, it is unknown who will be the future operator of the complex; but it will be through a long-term rental agreement.
Thor already has several assets in Catalonia: an operational residence in Lleida and two social and health infrastructures in Badalona and Esplugas (Barcelona).
The new hospital
The new hospital will house 120 individual rooms, 8 surgical block units, a physiotherapy area, a cafeteria, extraction rooms, 6 emergency areas, 62 outpatient consultations, a mammography, radiology and ultrasound area, training rooms, laboratories, a obstetrics, endoscopy area, neonatal area, 8 intensive care units and 350 parking spaces.
