SPHERE Investments, a US fund manager specialising in the healthcare sector, has launched operations in Spain with plans to invest €200 million over the next two years.
SPHERE's investment will focus on assets that already generate income, as well as contemplating the development of new assets and co-investment with companies in the future. The company is primarily targeting segments such as senior living and retirement homes, as well as hospitals, healthcare facilities, and residences for students and workers in health and science-related sectors.
The Spanish office, established in September, is led by Lee Mays as Managing Partner. Mays is also a member of the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee, roles he shares with Ernesto Villanueva and Germán Gimeno. These executives bring extensive experience in project management, real estate development, finance and operations.
SPHERE seeks to collaborate directly with healthcare operators to address their main challenges, support their development and create investment opportunities. ‘Our goal is to positively impact the well-being of patients, medical teams, workers and residents of our properties,’ says Lee Mays.
SPHERE's strategy combines healthcare expertise, big data and a focus on strategic investments to transform the wellbeing of communities globally. ‘Our comprehensive, data-driven approach enables us to invest effectively in the healthcare sector,’ adds Mays, noting that the company provides not only capital, but also expertise and a strategic vision focused on community health.
