REBUILD is all set to open its seventh edition until 21 March. The event, focused on the industrialisation of the building sector in Spain, aims to present innovations related to new construction models. A total of 587 exhibiting companies will showcase advances in industrialised, sustainable and technological solutions to more than 24,000 congress participants and professionals from the construction sector who will attend the event.
With the celebration of REBUILD 2024, Madrid will establish itself as the technological hub of industrialised construction, driving the development of a new economic sector focused on advanced and modular construction. The summit is expected to generate an economic impact of more than 59 million euros for the city, highlighting the opportunities offered by industrialisation and the mutual benefit between industry, the Community of Madrid, and development and construction companies.
The event will highlight more than 2,600 innovations applicable to interiors, kitchens and bathrooms, along with the latest trends in lighting, enclosures, flooring, cladding, façades, energy efficiency, climate control, home automation, digital solutions and industrialised construction systems in 2D and 3D. For the first time, REBUILD will include a special area for architects and interior designers, called Matter space, where materials and coatings aimed at promoting more innovative, sustainable and healthy interior design and architecture will be on display.
From momentum to consolidation: industrialisation is here to stay
Within the framework of REBUILD, the National Congress on Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0 will be held, considered the main meeting of knowledge and trends in industrialised building, which will bring together 628 international experts in eight simultaneous auditoriums. These specialists will participate in 277 sessions that will address the capabilities and challenges of industrialisation in the face of the climate crisis, the demand for housing, the shortage of land, the lack of skilled labour and the insufficient regulation of the sector.
The event will debate the need to reform the Technical Building Code to facilitate industrialisation and access to bank credit. Representatives from companies such as Gloval, CaixaBank and Bruzon will discuss the financing of industrialised projects and review the strategies implemented. Carlos Lamela, architect at Estudio Lamela, will talk about the agility of industrialised construction as part of his analysis of current architecture.
In addition, the congress will be attended by Emilio Ortiz and Taba Rasti, architects and partners of Foster + Partners, who will present their work in regeneration and rehabilitation of historic buildings focused on improving their energy efficiency. They will also address issues such as the National Building Rehabilitation Plan and the use of Next Generation funds, which are essential for the renovation of existing housing and the achievement of the decarbonisation targets set by the European Green Pact for 2030 and 2050.
Finally, emphasis will be placed on the mitigation of CO2 emissions, highlighting the use of circular materials, especially wood. Andrew Waugh, an architect globally recognised for his timber construction projects, will attend REBUILD 2024 to share his knowledge and advantages of this material in construction.
