The logistics-industrial real estate developer Panattoni announced today, together with the Parc de l'Alba Consortium, made up of the Catalan Land Institute -INCASÒL- and Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council, an agreement to purchase a 60,000 sqm plot of land.
On this plot, the construction of a technology campus of up to 68,000 sqm is planned, which is expected to be the largest Data Centre to be developed in Catalonia over the next few years, and which will have an installed power of 42 MW. The estimated investment for the development of the project is 300 million euros. Its first phase, which will begin construction at the end of 2023, will have a surface area of approximately 42,000 sqm.
The engineering and design of this data centre will be carried out by Quark, the leading company in Architecture, Engineering and Project Management for Data Centres. The future operator and tenant will be defined after an orderly process to be launched in mid-April, and will be led by Colliers in collaboration with Telam Partners.
This location, just 20 km away from Barcelona, offers unbeatable connectivity and ensures the availability of immediate power and state-of-the-art facilities, guaranteeing the success of the project and a safe bet for the business development of its future tenant.
"We are very excited to move forward with this project, which will surely be the largest Data Centre to be built in Catalonia in the market. With our experience in industrial real estate development and the expertise of our partners and collaborators, we are sure it will be a success. This project ratifies the continuity of Panattoni's development and investment plans in Catalonia and Spain," said Gustavo Cardozo, Panattoni's General Manager for Spain and Portugal.
The project designed by Panattoni in Cerdanyola confirms the position of the Barcelona metropolitan area as a privileged location for data centres in the Mediterranean," said Jose Maria Guilleuma, Director of the Data Centre Division at Colliers. The location of the project is strategically significant and will contribute to expanding the digital infrastructure across Southern Europe and North Africa. Barcelona is poised to be a key player in the data centre market".
Silvia Sorribas, Managing Director of Telam Partners said: "Telam Partners is happy to collaborate with leading global brands such as Panattoni and Colliers on this great project. Due to its geographical location and institutional stability, Spain is positioning itself as one of the main destinations for strategic investments in Europe. This data centre in Cerdanyola, due to its size and impact, is in line with our vision".
The implementation of this development has had the collaboration and support of the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council.
