Santarém will soon see the construction of a new hospital by the Luz Saúde Group, in a project that involves an investment of 58 million euros and foresees the creation of 500 jobs.
The group led by Isabel Vaz indicates that it has already obtained all the licenses necessary for the start of construction, with the work having been awarded this month to the Teixeira Duarte company, according to Lusa.
Luz Saúde expects the construction of the new hospital to be completed by the end of 2025, with the opening scheduled for the first half of 2026. The new hospital unit in Escalabia is expected to strengthen proximity medical services for the 425,000 people of Ribatejo, namely from the municipalities of Santarém, Ourém, Tomar, Abrantes, Torres Novas, Almeirim, Cartaxo, among others, according to the same source. The new infrastructure will have a wide range of consultations in various medical and surgical specialties and state-of-the-art equipment.
The hospital, which is being built next to the Retail Park in the south of Santarém, will have an inpatient unit with 42 beds, an operating theater with 4 surgical rooms, a differentiated imaging center, a center for women's health, an oncology center and a dental center. There are also plans to install 40 consultation rooms.
