From 14 to 17 March, Cannes hosted the most important international event dedicated to the real estate sector: MIPIM. The conference programme addressed the most important trends of the moment, such as the importance of ESG criteria, flex space and affordable housing, thus establishing the pulse of the sector in 2023, a year of major changes.
More than 8,700 international companies and 22,500 professionals from 100 countries attended the event, including investors, developers, real estate agents, architects, cities and regions, among others. Attendance from the Iberian Peninsula, which includes Spain, Portugal and Andorra, was particularly significant this year, with a 20% increase over the previous edition.
In the Iberian region, more than 1,000 professionals from the sector and 400 companies from the region attended MIPIM, which represents more than 4.5% of the fair's total, an all-time record that confirms the growing interest of the national market in the international market. This event offers the opportunity to establish contacts, develop new business relationships and discover investment opportunities in real estate projects around the world, making it a key point on the agenda of any professional in the sector.

Greater Porto Stand
Collaboration between neighbouring cities is a strategy increasingly used to attract investment and develop entire regions. In the case of Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos, these three Portuguese cities have created a joint project with the aim of attracting international investment to the region.
With this idea in mind, the three cities have come together to MIPIM, the most important real estate fair in the world, with a stand of almost 200 square metres. This space has been a meeting point for entrepreneurs, companies and investors interested in participating in this ambitious project.
CONFERENCE "BUILDING TERRITORIES FOR THE FUTURE", PROMOTED BY GREATER PORTO
Presentations were made at the stand by the four exhibiting companies: Chave Nova, Lionesa, Retail Mind and Revito. In addition, a conference was organised under the title "Building Territories of the Future" promoted by Greater Porto, in which representatives of the Câmara Municipal do Porto and the Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos joined in a Round Table with Begoña Villacís Sánchez, Deputy Mayor of Madrid City Council, to discuss the meaning of "A City of the Future".
This joint project of Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos has demonstrated that city-to-city collaboration is an effective tool to attract investment and develop entire regions. To date, it has attracted more than 100 million euros in investments.
Lisbon Stand
Lisbon has presented itself at MIPIM 2023 with the collaboration of public and private entities.
Lisbon has once again attended MIPIM with the clear intention of attracting international investment to the Portuguese capital. With the collaboration of the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Portuguesa [CCIP], aicep Portugal Global and InvestLisboa, they have presented a joint project with a surface of more than 80 sqm in the centre of the exhibition area.
The project presented at MIPIM is based on a public-private partnership that allows the participating entities to show the international community the projects and opportunities offered by the Portuguese capital in the business and real estate fields.
With its presence at MIPIM, Lisbon demonstrates its commitment to attracting investment and its role as an attractive destination for international business.
Fundao Stand
The city participated with a 9 sqm stand where it promoted its innovation and investment ecosystem to thousands of visitors from the sector and made its city and its projects known to the international investment community.

Spanish Pavilion
The Spanish Pavilion has once again become the meeting point for Spanish companies at MIPIM. With a 30% growth in the number of companies present at the stand, it has consolidated itself as a space where companies can showcase their products and services and public institutions can present themselves to the international community.
The 120 sqm of exhibition space has allowed 50 private companies and 5 public institutions to expand their presence at MIPIM under the umbrella of the Spain brand, reinforcing their position as a benchmark at the fair. On the Spanish public side, the Spanish City Council of Malaga, Castilla y León through the Institute for Business Competitiveness (ICE), the Region of Murcia and Castilla-La Mancha, represented by IPEX, were present at the Spanish stand.
In addition, as every year, the "Spanish Conference" was organised under the title "Green Investment in Spain: Sustainability and Profits", which brought together more than 110 professionals at MIPIM. Sponsored by Gesvalt and RocaJunyent, the conference established the guidelines to follow regarding the implementation of ESG criteria in today's companies.
The Spanish Pavilion has established itself as a key space for Spanish companies at MIPIM. It has once again demonstrated its relevance at the fair, reinforcing the Spanish presence at an event of great importance worldwide.
Barcelona Catalonia Stand
Catalonia exhibited for the 16th time at MIPIM with more than 80 professionals and 22 companies. The Catalan community has once again been present at MIPIM, with an exhibition space of 250 sqm and the participation of more than 80 professionals from the sector and 22 private companies. The Government of Catalonia, represented by INCASOL, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) and the Barcelona City Council have once again committed to MIPIM as a key strategy in its internationalisation, promoting a public-private partnership that helps the territory to develop and attract international investment.
In this edition, two conferences were organised to present the projects of the territory. On the one hand, the Barcelona City Council organised a session entitled "The Barcelona Green Deal: new investment opportunities" and, on the other hand, INCASOL presented "ESG strategy towards better cities and stronger businesses". In addition, more than eight events were held at the stand, at which projects from both local councils and private initiatives in the region were presented.
Catalonia's presence at MIPIM has been consolidated as a key strategy for promoting the region and attracting international investment. It has also generated numerous networking and collaboration opportunities with companies and institutions from all over the world.
Madrid Stand
Expanding its exhibition space and reaffirming its presence at MIPIM, the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council, together with Valdecarros and Madrid Nuevo Norte, have once again presented themselves to the international community with a 180 sqm stand.
The city of Madrid has undergone an important process of urban transformation with the creation of new urban developments that have significantly changed its physiognomy and configuration. This year, the title of the conference organised at MIPIM was "New Urban Developments", where the Valdecarros project and the opportunity it represents for the region were discussed.
